Cornwall, PA History
Cornwall is a borough in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Lebanon County, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 3,486 at the 2000 census.
Cornwall was founded by Peter Grubb in 1737. First building his house and then a store, he discovered iron ore and decided to mine for it. He called it the Cornwall Iron Ore Mines, after his father's birthplace in Cornwall, England. Eventually the whole town became known as Cornwall.
Cornwall was incorporated as a township on October 11, 1926 after having been a part of Lancaster County and for a while of Dauphin County.

Though the first settlers were located there in 1723, it was officially created in 1813 from parts of Dauphin County and Lancaster County. It is located in south central Pennsylvania approximately 25 miles east of the state capital of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 363 square miles, of which, 362 square miles of it is land and 1 square miles of it (0.20%) is water. Its average annual temperature is 50 degrees and average precipitation is almost 36 inches.
